Château Clinet 2025 - Pomerol

Clinet ligger på et af de højere punkter i Pomerol, midt på plateauet, hvor leret er en del af forklaringen på slottets tyngde. Ejendommen er beskeden i areal, omtrent 10 hektar, men har en historik der rækker tilbage til 1595 og en placering der ikke behøver megen oversættelse for Pomerol-folk. Slottet tilhører i dag Laborde-familien og ledes af Ronan Laborde.

2025 er på Clinet høstet fra 4. til 17. september. Ifølge producentmaterialet er det slottets tidligste høst, og vinen er sammensat af 80% Merlot og 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Det sidste er værd at notere. Clinet har i de senere år fået en smule mere Cabernet Sauvignon i billedet, og Neal Martin bemærker hos Vinous netop, at en hektar Merlot er rykket op. Det ændrer ikke slottets Pomerol-identitet, men det giver 2025 en lidt anden ramme at forstå den i.

Martin kalder næsen den mest elegante og raffinerede, han har mødt på dette stadie, med røde kirsebær, hindbær, vilde jordbær, floralitet og fint integreret eg. På paletten beskriver han en medium-bodied Clinet med mejslede tanniner, lys spænding og en krystallinsk afslutning. Jeb Dunnuck ser en mere generøs side af samme vin: mørk frugt, viol, røget tobak og chokolade, pakket ind i en fuld, sømløs og lagdelt form.

Clinet med sin vanlige fylde, og 2025 med en mere præcis, spændstig kontur. Drikkevinduet fra Wine Cellar Insider peger mod 2029-2060. For en Pomerol i denne prisklasse er det et alvorligt signal.

    Dense purple-hued, the 2025 Château Clinet is a ripe, sumptuous, and seamless beauty with so much to love. Ripe red, blue, and black fruits, violets, smoky tobacco, and chocolate all shine on the nose, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It shows just how successful the more clay-dominant soils of Pomerol were in this vintage, and it's unquestionably up with the crème de la crème of the vintage.

  • The Wine Cellar

    Deep in color, the wine exudes aromas of licorice, flowers, black cherries, espresso, plums, herbs, and chocolate with a single swirl. The palate is even better, with waves of opulent, lush, soft, polished, expressive, and fresh fruit. The balance among depth, sweetness, flesh, and lift is exactly where it needs to be. The finish is defined by the intensity of the vibrant fruit on the palate, depth of flavor, and purity. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% ABV, 3.65 pH. Harvesting took place September 4 September 17. This is the earliest harvest in the history of the estate. Yields were 34 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2029-2060.

  • Vinous

    The 2025 Clinet was the earliest picking ever, from September 4, and aged in 60% new oak plus 40% one-year-old barrels. Vintages now have a little more Cabernet Sauvignon, as a hectare of Merlot was uprooted. Now this has a delightful nose, perhaps the most elegant and refined that I have encountered at this stage: vivid red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry scents, neatly embroidered oak, more floral in style. The palate is medium-bodied with chiselled, fine tannins, bright and tensile, exquisite focus, with a peacock's tail on the finish. Quite crystalline on the finish, this is a Clinet that I would like in my cellar. Or at the dinner table. Or in my glass.

Château Clinet

Familien Audy, som var de tidligere ejere af Château Clinet, igangsatte et større arbejde for at løfte vinens kvalitet. Den verdensberømte ønolog Michel Rolland blev ansat som konsulent, og et større arbejde i markerne blev igangsat. I 1998 valgte familien imidlertid at sælge Château Clinet til Jean-Louise Laborde, der i forvejen drev to ejendomme i Tokaj. Han fortsatte arbejdet med at renovere vinmarkerne, og en ny kælder stod færdig i 2004. I den nye kælder bruges tyngdekræften til at flytte mosten rundt i produktionsprocessen for at undgå iltning.

Clinets marker ligger på det højeste plateau i Pomerol, som er meget stenet og gruset. Det er ikke klassisk for Pomerol, men nærmere at sammenligne med undergrunden i Médoc. 

Af de næste 9 hektar produceres årligt omkring 40.000 flasker. Château Clinet er i de senere år blevet en af de mest efterspurgte vine i den årlige ”en primeur handel”.
