Saint-Estèphe efter 2021
Château Lafon-Rochet er Grand Cru Classé i 1855 og et af de mest genkendelige slotte på vejen gennem Médoc, ikke mindst på grund af den gule facade. I september 2021 begyndte en ny fase, da Lorenzetti-familien overtog ejendommen. Året efter blev Christophe Congé udnævnt til direktør efter mere end 20 år hos Domaines Barons de Rothschild. 2025 er samtidig slottets anden årgang med økologisk certificering.

Blendet er 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc og 2% Petit Verdot, høstet fra 9. til 23. september. Producentens egen note peger på en tydelig Cabernet-identitet: struktur, grafit, frisk sort frugt og salt spænding i afslutningen. Det er præcis den type formulering, Lafon-Rochet helst skal kunne leve op til. Saint-Estèphe må gerne være fast. Den skal bare være fast med retning.

Hindle beskriver en vin med levende aromatik, kølig vådstenskerne, ren frugt, fasthed uden hårdhed og en lang, frisk afslutning. Hun lægger også vægt på den lave alkohol og den underspillede, selvsikre karakter, hvor Cabernet taler tydeligt. Galloni placerer 2025 som klassisk Lafon-Rochet: poleret, nuanceret og afmålt, med blå-lilla frugt, lavendel, salvie og mentol, der åbner sig gradvist. Neal Martin er mere reserveret og finder vinen klassisk, lidt asketisk og meget Saint-Estèphe, med en salt efterklang, men også et ønske om lidt mere længde og kompleksitet.

    A dense, chocolaty and focused red showing generous fruit and bark on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with ripe, chewy tannins. Textural, with nice concentration and a long, vivid, flavorful finish.

    Wonderful fragrance emitting out of the glass – a lovely vivid pink colour to the rim also. Fruity and juicy straight away, clean, crisp, bright and fresh with a really cool, wet stone undercurrent. There’s firmness but also finesse in that you have the presence of tannins without any harshness or grip. Lovely structure and focus. Super long, with that cool fresh grip really extending on the finish. I like it a lot for its cool profile, low alcohol and really understated character. Something very confident about this, but quiet. You can really feel the Cabernet here, it’s speaking in volumes. Becomes more chewy and round and relaxed after a few minutes. This will be delicious. A liquorice minty spice on the finish. Round and soft. Joyous. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Ageing 40% foudres, 15% new oak, 10% concrete tanks. 3.69pH. 69 IPT.

Château Lafon-Rochet, et 4. Cru Classé-slot i Saint-Estèphe, står som en markant perle i Bordeaux med sin ikoniske gyldengule facade og historie, der går tilbage til klassificeringen i 1855.
