Lovely clear fragrance. Purity of red berries straight away, this is super refined and juicy. Wow this is exceptional, so pure and finessed, beautifully fine and filagreed. There’s density but no overt muscularity and flesh. This is straightforward and well defined, more layered than dense -– so beautifully presented. There’s a real refinement here at Pez, one of the best Ep samples I’ve tasted from this estate – a salty, black liquorice undertone. Juicy, fruity, supple with clarity and poise. Almost chalky tannins with a wet stone grip on the finish. Just delicious. 3.6pH. A yield of 39hl/ha. Ageing 50% new oak.
Licorice, currants, blackberries, flowers, tobacco, mint, and a drop of espresso open the nose. The medium-bodied, soft, round-textured, lively wine delivers its fruits, and touch of crushed stones on the back end with ease. The wine blends 56% Cabernet 42% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. 13% ABV. Drink from 2029-2045.
The 2025 de Pez is a very serious wine. Blackberry, menthol, licorice, scorched earth, tobacco and incense are all beautifully amplified in the glass. There's gorgeous textural breadth, complexity and class here. All the elements are so well balanced.
