Saint-Émilion med Pomerol i sidespejlet
Château La Dominique ligger nordvest for Saint-Émilion, helt tæt på Pomerol-grænsen, med Cheval Blanc, Figeac, L’Évangile og La Conseillante i nabolaget. Det er en beliggenhed, man godt må nævne, fordi den faktisk forklarer noget: La Dominique står i et krydsfelt mellem Saint-Émilions kalk- og lerudtryk og den mere Merlot-dominerede generøsitet, man forbinder med Pomerol-siden.

Ejendommen har været ejet af Clément Fayat siden 1969 og dækker 25 hektar. Den moderne Jean Nouvel-kælder og La Terrasse Rouge har gjort slottet mere synligt, men i 2025 er det markarbejdet og årgangens balance, der er mest relevant. Producenten beskriver en vækstsæson uden forårsfrost, med varm begyndelse, moderat vandstress og regn i august og september, som hjalp tanninerne mod finere modning uden at tabe friskheden. Blendet er 85% Merlot og 15% Cabernet Franc, høstet fra 8. til 20. september.

Galloni er usædvanligt klar i sin vurdering og kalder 2025 en af de bedste La Dominique-årgange, han kan huske at have smagt. Han fremhæver aromatik, silkefuld tekstur, polering og en ren, salt finish. Hindle ser samme årgang fra en mere umiddelbar vinkel: cola, lakrids, tjære, blåbær, mentol, solbær og en saftig midterpalet, samlet i en vin med kraft, fokus og friskhed. Anson giver den en mere mineralsk profil med skifer, pimpsten, rose, pæon, tranebær, granatæble og blodappelsin.

    The 2025 La Dominique is terrific. This is one of the best vintages of La Dominique I can remember tasting. Aromatic, silky and exceptionally polished, La Dominique impresses right out of the gate. Bracing saline notes extend the clean, reverberating finish. A sleeper.

    Another excellent vintage from this trusty estate. A cool crystalline nose, cola, liquorice, tar and blueberries. So clean and pure. Crisp and focused from the off, a cooling menthol and blackcurrant element, soft grippy tannins and the most beautiful juicy mid palate that just makes you smile. A happy wine. It’s powerful no doubt but in a restrained way without any heaviness. Vibrant and energetic. I love the focus, the freshness and relatively delicacy. Filing in the month but this is exceptional in terms of fruit purity. Very drinkable. A yield of 30hl/ha. 3.68pH.

    Focused and curated, with very long, fine tannins that take the wine on a journey. Nicely ripe fruit with berry and light hazelnut undertones. This is going to an excellent wine in the bottle.
