Château Croix de Labrie er en lille perle i Saint-Émilion, beliggende i Saint-Christophe des Bardes med marker spredt ud over 5,5 hektar. Dette vinslot har opnået kultstatus og er i dag klassificeret som Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé.
Château Croix de Labrie dyrker druerne økologisk, og de arbejder også biodynamisk. Høsten udføres manuelt, og druerne gennemgår flere omhyggelige sorteringsprocesser, før de når gæringsprocessen.
Château Croix de Labrie er kendt for at producere to hovedvine. Først og fremmest Château Croix de Labrie, som er domineret af Merlot, men også indeholder Cabernet Sauvignon og Cabernet Franc. De producerer omkring 800 til 1000 kasser af denne fornemme vin. Derudover er der Chapelle de Labrie, den anden vin, som fremstilles i mængder mellem 300 og 500 kasser, afhængigt af høsten.
Vinene fra Château Croix de Labrie er uden tvivl blandt toppen af Saint-èmilion og vil være en fornøjelse for enhver vinelsker.
Profondeur et fraîcheur sont les deux premiers qualificatifs qui me viennent à l’esprit en humant le bouquet de Croix de Labrie. Les nuances florales sont alimentées par des notes de pivoines et de violettes, puis une touche crayeuse, tandis que des notes de baies noires mûres plébiscitent l’aspect mature et fruité. Le caractère onctueux et légèrement salin de l’attaque ouvre la voie à un vin linéaire, fin et précis. Il est doté de tannins compacts qui ont du relief et qui s’acclimatent du caractère incisif d’une acidité flamboyante. Cette dernière dynamise l’expression et la persistance de la finale. Un très grand vin qui s’illustre par son aptitude à lier le caractère incisif de sa structure à la puissance tannique. Je pense qu’il gagnera encore plus en éclat après son élevage. Il est paré pour aller dans le temps, avec le défi de ne pas être bu avant son apothéose… Dans tous les cas c’est un plaisir préprogrammé ! 2029-2060
Dark in color, the perfume exudes espresso, chocolate, licorice, flowers, plums, and cherries. The palate is even better with its layers of lusciously textured red, with black fruits, creamy textures, and a vibrant, long, mineral-driven finish. The wine is produced and bottled with extremely low levels of sulfur to retain the purity of the fruit. You can enjoy this young, or age it for more complexity. The wine blends 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2029-2050.
Ripe blackcurrants and sticky liquorice aromas, smells heady and intense yet floral too with violets and peony scents. Smooth and silky, this is sleek and controlled with lovely purity to the summer berry fruit - strawberry and cranberry - with powdery, chalky tannins that give this body and structure. Classy and polished, there’s something really captivating about this wine. Great energy and intensity while keeping lifted. Hands-off in the best way but still with undeniable power. Juicy and long with undeniable limestone aspects. Totally different blend compared to 2022 and 2023. Started harvest on 14th September on the plateau, 15-16th on the slopes, Cabernet Sauvignon on the 20th and Cabernet Franc on the 21st. 3.40pH. Two years ageing: 70% barrel (70% new oak, 30% one-year-old), 30% demi-muids and 12hl foudres. 100-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon added to the blend.
