A structured and chiseled red with aromas of black currants, blackberries, crushed stones and dried spices. Medium-bodied. Solid and precise finish. Classy. From organically grown grapes. 47% merlot, 47% cabernet sauvignon, 4% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc.
This has got to be one of the most consistent estates in Bordeaux, and again in 2025 is impressive, enjoyable, powerful and concentrated, with lift and kick. You need to give this a few moments in the glass to unfold, because there is a lot of potential and power, then shows saffron, redcurrant, cassis and bilberry fruit, grilled capsicum pepper with a juicy sign off. Harvest September 5 to 22. 23% new oak. Tasted twice. 41hl/ha yield. Clear ageing potential.
Concentrated and intense with lots of power on offer here, generous and rich with ripe black fruits. So filling but really cool and crisp too – the acidity keeps the focus and drive so even though this is super tannic it ends chalky, salty, light and fresh. Excellent potential here and yet another good quality vintage at this consistent estate. A yield of 41hl/ha. Pénélope Godefroy now technical director across the Maison Dourthe portfolio. 2% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.
