Fieuzal med rygrad
Château de Fieuzal hører til de mere interessante navne i Pessac-Léognan, fordi slottet sjældent larmer mere end vinen kan bære. Under Quinn-familiens ejerskab og Stephen Carriers tekniske ledelse har Fieuzal arbejdet sig ind i en retning, hvor Graves-karakteren står tydeligere: mørk frugt, røgede nuancer, grus, friskhed og en vis kølig fasthed.

2025 er 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot og 10% Petit Verdot, høstet fra 4. til 26. september. Producentens egen note beskriver dyb farve, sort solbær, hvid peber, friskhed, silkefuld åbning og en mere pudret tekstur, båret af Cabernet-drevet længde. Det er en ret præcis nøgle til årgangen, for flere anmeldere ser netop en vin, hvor modenhed og friskhed står tæt.

Castaing vurderer Fieuzal 2025 som mere struktureret end normalt, men stadig balanceret, med cassis, morbær, blåregn og blomster, en kødfuld frugtkerne, finkornede tanniner og en lang, parfumeret afslutning. Han kalder den også en af årets mere overbevisende værdier i Bordeaux. Beck går endnu højere og fremhæver viol, kalkede nuancer, modne sorte bær, lakrids, saftige tanniner og incisiv syre, der strækker frugten i afslutningen. Anson er kortere, men meget brugbar: grillet cedertræ, sandeltræ, damson-frugt og den blæksprutteblæk-salinitet, hun forbinder med moden Cabernet Sauvignon på venstre bred.

Neal Martin er mere forsigtig. Han ser rød frugt, sous-bois og marine noter, men efterlyser mere vigør og noterer et mere urtepræget udtryk. Det er værd at tage med, for Fieuzal 2025 virker ikke helt færdig med at samle sig. Men materialets stærkeste spor peger på en klassisk, frisk og struktureret Pessac-Léognan.

More structured than usual, it remains well balanced, supported by lively acidity and a subtle, gastronomic bitterness on the finish. It's a classical expression and one of the more compelling values in Bordeaux this year.

A second tasting at Château Olivier the same day found the wine a touch tighter and more reserved, but the underlying quality and harmony remain clear.
