Château La Conseillante er indbegrebet af finesse og klassisk Pomerol-elegance. Beliggende mellem Château L’Évangile og Cheval Blanc – med én fod i Pomerol og én i Saint-Émilion – har La Conseillante en af de mest privilegerede placeringer i Bordeaux.
Ejendommen blev grundlagt i midten af 1700-tallet og har siden 1871 været ejet og drevet af familiens Nicolas – hvilket gør La Conseillante til en af de sjældne Bordeaux-ejendomme med uafbrudt familieejerskab gennem over 150 år. Under ledelse af Jean-Valmy Nicolas og teknisk direktør Marielle Cazaux har slottet i de seneste år gennemgået en modernisering, som har løftet kvaliteten til nye højder.
Vinmarkerne strækker sig over 12 hektar og er primært beplantet med Merlot (ca. 80%) og Cabernet Franc (ca. 20%), fordelt på lerholdige og grusede jorde, hvilket giver vinene både dybde og friskhed. I kælderen arbejdes med stor præcision, inklusive parcelvinifikation, gravitationssystem og en kombination af ståltanke, beton og foudres.
Stilen er kendetegnet ved blomstrende aromatik, fløjlsblød struktur og en nærmest burgundisk elegance – med noter af viol, kirsebær, trøffel og kakao. La Conseillante er en vin, der både appellerer i sin ungdom og har bemærkelsesværdigt lagringspotentiale.

Just as it was from cask, the 2023 La Conseillante is one of the vintage's most exciting wines in bottle. Offering up lavish aromas of ripe blackberries and mulberries mingled with hints of violets and mint, it's medium- to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with an ample core of fruit, beautifully refined tannins and a long, perfumed finish. Readers who own both the deeper-pitched, elegantly muscular 2022 and the utterly charming, hedonistic 2023 will enjoy comparing and contrasting the two over the decades to come. The 2023 is a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, some 30% of which is maturing in amphorae. Harvest began on September 7, lasting until October 2, block by block.
Deep garnet‑purple in color, the 2023 La Conseillante sails gracefully out of the glass with powerful notes of juicy blueberries, ripe plums, and black cherries, followed by hints of violets, licorice, dark chocolate, and mint tea. The medium‑ to full‑bodied palate is an exercise in poise, delivering perfectly ripe, super‑fine‑grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length and sophistication. Just stunning. Eighty‑five percent of this year’s crop went into the First Wine, a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc with pH 3.68. Marielle Cazeau mentioned that fining was not necessary this year—the tannins were that good!
Initially, you notice the intensity of the wine's floral bouquet before exploring its aromas of cocoa, truffle, spice, chocolate, and perfectly ripe black cherries. While the fragrance is striking, it is the palate where the wine truly shines with a vivid display of black and red fruits. The wine is elegant, silky, and fresh, with a beautiful sense of purity in the fruit that leaves you eager to take another sip. The wine blends 88% Merlot with 12% Cabernet Franc.
