A tight, full-bodied Lascombes that shows nice extraction and concentration. A haze of oak spices and espresso on top of the black currants, blackberries, dark olives, graphite and black bean puree. Pretty broad, vertical and structured for the vintage and it needs a few years to unwind. Better from 2026.

The 2021 Lascombes is a soft, easygoing Margaux to drink now and over the next handful of years. The 2021 is nicely balanced, but it is also simple and lacking in both complexity and structure. Dark-toned fruit, licorice, spice, leather and lavender inform the attractive finish. I liked this more en primeur.
