Château Haut-Carles ligger højt på Fronsacs bakkekamme med udsigt over Isle-dalen – et historisk sted, hvor filosoffer som Montaigne og Rousseau engang fandt inspiration. I dag drives slottet af Eléonore og Oriane de Castaing, femte generation af familien, som med respekt for terroiret skaber vine, der forener klassisk dybde med moderne præcision.

Årgang 2020 viser Fronsac fra sin mest generøse side. Vinen, domineret af Merlot med et strejf af Cabernet Franc, byder på intens frugt med noter af modne blommer, brombær og et diskret præg af cedertræ. Smagen er fyldig og cremet med silkebløde tanniner og en lang, harmonisk afslutning. En vin med både charme og struktur, der allerede nu giver stor nydelse – men som også vil udvikle kompleksitet med nogle års tålmodighed i kælderen.

The 2020 Haut-Carles is stellar. Silky, deep and wonderfully delineated, the 2020 Haut-Carles impresses right out of the gate. It shows terrific depth and density, but is not at all heavy. Dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, mint, dried herbs and mocha are all finely knit in this dazzling, wonderfully elegant Fronsac.
