Château Capbern er et klassisk Saint-Estèphe-slot med en næsten aristokratisk ro over sig. Beliggende på grusholdige bakker tæt ved Gironde og med kalksten i undergrunden deler Capbern både historie og ejerskab med naboen Château Calon Ségur – og siden 2012 også det samme erfarne team bag kælderdøren.

2022 viser Capbern i en imponerende koncentreret og seriøs udgave. Duften er mørk og krydret med solbær, sorte kirsebær, peber og et strejf af asket mineralitet. Smagen er rig og dyb, båret af finkornede, næsten støvede tanniner, der giver både spændstighed og struktur uden at tynge.

Det er Saint-Estèphe med autoritet og finesse – en vin, der med sin længde og balance lover et smukt liv i kælderen og bekræfter Capberns stigende position i appellationen. En vin, der allerede har vakt international opmærksomhed og fortjener det.

This carries to a rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated Capbern that has solid depth of fruit, juicy acidity, and ripe tannins. It has all the right components, but it's going to need some time to come together.

    Ashtray and fine dark spices with plenty of cassis and peppercorns. Spiced black cherries too. Rich on the palate with fine, dusty tannins that manage to vibrate and deliver structure to the fruit. Almost full-bodied, this has outstanding depth, concentration and length. Drink from 2027.
